New Song

"Hey friends, it's Natalie Layne, and this is the story behind my song called 'The Long Way.'

I was recently struck by the fact that so much of our lives are marked by waiting. We're always waiting for something—praying for something, hoping for a miracle.

And I believe we serve a God of miracles who can move in a moment. Sometimes He does. But other times, He takes us along these back roads to get to the miracle, and we wonder why it’s taking so long.

I used to think it was cruel of God to take us down those back roads and make the journey longer than it could be. But the longer I walk with Him, the more I realize that maybe it’s actually the kindness of God that leads us that way.

Because out there on those back roads, we see things we never would have seen. We get to know Him in ways we never would have known Him."

And by the time we reach the destination, the thing we care about most isn’t the destination at all—it’s knowing the Lord and the gift of His presence.
